Roger Debusschere is a well-known name in the international pigeon racing community. Although he is primarily recognized as a top-tier breeder rather than an active racer, he takes great pride in seeing other fanciers achieve remarkable success with the offspring of his pigeons. His carefully crafted breeding strategy has proven its value time and time again, validating the significant investments he has made. In his breeding loft, only the very best genes are selected—nothing is left to chance.

Since 2012, Roger has been working closely with Damien Baert (Erre) under the partnership Baert-Debusschere. Their collaboration has yielded exceptional results, including two national victories with the super pigeons "Mexence" and "Mexendre":

  • Mexendre claimed 1st National Bourges 2020, proving its mettle under tough flying conditions.
  • Mexence won 1st National Tulle against 5,976 pigeons, along with an impressive list of additional top results:
  • 1st Souppes (499 pigeons)
  • 1st Bourges (564 pigeons) – (102nd National out of 22,663 birds)
  • 5th Vierzon (405 pigeons)
  • 11th Montluçon (3,892 pigeons)
  • 14th La Souterraine (1,391 pigeons)

Breeding Loft Expands with Elite Bloodlines

Roger’s constant pursuit of excellence has led him to introduce new, high-caliber bloodlines into his breeding program. In recent years, his loft has been strengthened with direct pigeons from Willem de Bruijn, Marcel Wouters, Dirk Van Dijck, and Bart Geerinckx. These are some of the most sought-after names in pigeon racing, known for their superior genetics and outstanding performances at national and international levels.

A major shift occurred in 2024, when Roger introduced 50 pigeons from Noel Peiren to his breeding stock. The Peiren bloodline is legendary for excelling in extreme long-distance races, and Roger sees them as the perfect pigeons to compete at the highest level in Barcelona and Perpignan.

“With the Peiren pigeons, our goal is to achieve a top 10 national position in Barcelona and Perpignan. We are testing them across four different lofts, where I am breeding young pigeons specifically for these races. I strongly believe Peiren pigeons are the best choice for such extreme long-distance events.” – Roger Debusschere

A New Era for the Debusschere Breeding Loft

With 50 Peiren pigeons now part of the breeding program, Roger is taking his breeding expertise to a new level, focusing exclusively on producing champions for Barcelona and Perpignan. The next chapter for the Debusschere bloodline promises to be just as spectacular as its past successes.

For those seeking the ultimate long-distance genetics, the name Roger Debusschere remains one of the most prestigious in the sport. His breeding philosophy is simple: only the best pigeons will do—and that formula continues to produce national and international winners year after year.

With the purchase of the below proven original Noël Peiren breeding pigeons from the total sale of grandmaster Gerard Koopman, Roger is rocketing up the ladder to the absolute top! And the best news? You can ride along on this success! Because from these phenomenal champions, lightning-fast pigeons will soon be available… Don't miss this unique opportunity to get your hands on top-class genetics!

Retiring from Racing – A Legacy of Success

In 2024, Roger officially retired from active competition, concluding his racing career with a remarkable 36th National Barcelona. While he has stepped back from racing, his focus remains fully on breeding and ensuring his pigeons continue to dominate on the grand stage through the fanciers he supplies.

"Belmondo" – 1st International Agen (13,325 Old Birds)

Roger's relentless ambition to secure national winners brought him to one of his most notable acquisitions: "Belmondo", a true champion.

"Belmondo" won 1st International Agen 2018 against 13,325 old birds under brutal conditions—strong headwinds and temperatures above 30°C. Such extreme conditions separate ordinary pigeons from true champions, and Roger immediately recognized the value of this bird.

He wasted no time and struck one of the biggest transfers in the sport, bringing home not just Belmondo...

      But Also:

      • His parents
      • A brother and a sister
      • The 3rd International Agen winner

This move solidified Roger's breeding loft as a powerhouse of long-distance genetics.

"Kleine Perpignan" – 1st National Perpignan (3,964 Old Birds)

The 2018 Perpignan International was another race characterized by extreme conditions. Belgian fancier Christian Demaret (Havré) dominated with his pigeon "Kleine Perpignan", which not only won 1st National (3,964 pigeons) but also placed 3rd International (12,353 pigeons).

This exceptional long-distance flyer is known for its soft plumage, long wings, and powerful forearms—ideal traits for races where endurance is key.

"Michel Jarnac" – 1st National Jarnac (5,371 Old Birds) – Fastest of 10,311 Pigeons

In the same year, Roger acquired “B16-1013290”, the 1st National Jarnac winner and fastest pigeon among 10,311 competitors.

Covering 608 km at a speed of 1,124.30 m/min, this pigeon outpaced legendary lofts such as:

      • Vandenheede Freddy & Jacques (1,111.89 m/min)
      • Pollin Marc & Geert (1,111.02 m/min)

After delivering top performances in Argenton, Bourges, and Châteauroux, Roger secured this champion for his breeding loft.
