Rex de Leeuw, a name that has recently become a talking point among pigeon enthusiasts, has achieved an impressive national victory from Dax! When Made is mentioned, people often think of legends like Cor de Heijde, but today it’s Rex de Leeuw who takes the spotlight. With his remarkable hen 'Georgina,' he made history at 10:27 PM, when she landed on the perch after an impressive flight, with a phenomenal speed of 1079.92 meters per minute.

The Secret Behind the Victory
Georgina is no ordinary pigeon. Her father, from the top lines of Harold van Wegberg and 100% pure bred Cor de Heijde, forms the foundation of these exceptional performances. Her mother already has previous achievements, and Georgina does her family proud as a true top flyer. She brought the victory over 991 km straight to Rex’s loft in Made, where the champagne didn’t stay corked for long.

A Strong Strategy and a Brilliant Team
At Rex’s home, pigeon racing is far more than just a hobby; his dedication is all about achieving top results. He begins each season with a team of 50 pairs (divided between yearlings and older pigeons), carefully supported by his wife Toos. Each year, he visits Henk de Weerd in Breda three times for guidance and to keep his pigeons in top form. Rex prefers the nest method, usually with pigeons that are on 5 day old youngbirds or 14 days into breeding.

Smart Care and Training Routine
Rex’s training routine is carefully built up: his pigeons train every day and occasionally at other locations. Additionally, young pigeons are thoroughly trained up to 400 km, without darkening. Hygiene and health are crucial, so the pigeons receive targeted nutrition like Beyers Galaxy mixtures and additional energy sources like peanuts and Begasol. In autumn, a paratyphus treatment keeps the pigeons healthy for the next season.

A Passion That Grew and Delivered Grand Results
Rex started out as a feed dealer and added pigeon feed to his assortment, sparking his growing interest in pigeon racing. Today, Rex is no longer “that man from Made” – he’s seen as a true winner, with names like 'Cathy,' 'Christiane,' 'Beautiful Narbonne,' and 'Daphne' as proof of his successes. From 3rd National Barcelona in the ZLU to 1st National Bordeaux with 'Amazing Louise,' and 5th International Narbonne with 'Bertus,' Rex continues to score one achievement after another.

Rex de Leeuw and Toos, a team on the Brabant sandy grounds, proving time and again that passion and dedication lead to the absolute pinnacle in pigeon racing.
