Ruud Moes wins 1st vs 4,062 pigeons with a flawless team performance — led by his 1st nominated pigeon!

On Saturday, May 26, 2025, the pigeons of Section 6 (Netherlands) were released at 7:00 AM from Fontenay sur Eure (France) for a mid-distance race of 508.591 km. With light southwest winds, partly cloudy skies, and a temperature of 12°C, the conditions were favorable — and the competition was fierce.

But the top performance of the day came from Comb. Moes from Zaandam, and it was a masterclass in pigeon racing.

The Victory – With the First Pick on Top!

Ruud Moes clocked his hen NL23-9552014 at 12:23:38 PM, achieving an incredible speed of 1571.429 m/min, winning 1st Prize vs 4,062 pigeons.

Even more remarkable: She was his 1st nominated pigeon!

As the Pigeon Boss, I have to say — “That earns maximum respect!”
In the nominated championship, only the true experts stand out. Choosing your lead pigeon and watching her arrive first is what champions are made of.

Where Do We Know Ruud From?

Ruud Moes is far from an unknown name in Dutch pigeon sport. His impressive résumé is filled with legendary performances from world-class pigeons, including:

Michelle (NL13-818)

In 2016, this Belgian-born hen made history by becoming the #1 Allround Ace Pigeon in the Netherlands according to PIPA Rankings.

She scored a phenomenal coefficient of 14.2350% over her 12 best results on races between 60 and 799 km — outperforming over 20,000 Dutch fanciers. Michelle was pure class — and a true benchmark for the sport.

Esperanza (NL17-040)

A direct daughter of Michelle and a son of another superstar Mulan, Esperanza became the Best Middle-Distance Pigeon of the Netherlands in 2017 and went on to become #1 Allround Ace of the Netherlands in 2018.

In 2019, she proudly represented the Netherlands at the Olympiad in Poland — the ultimate recognition of consistent, elite performance.

Who Is Ruud Moes – The Heartbeat of Dutch Pigeon Racing

More than his pigeons, it is Ruud himself who makes the difference. A passionate fancier, community builder, and innovator, Ruud Moes (54) has been racing pigeons since he was just twelve.

He first made waves as a teenager, winning every 1st prize at his club’s exhibition at the age of fifteen. Since then, he has racked up achievement after achievement:

  • Parkestone (UK): 2 pigeons entered, 2 prizes won

  • 1st in his section – NPO Jubilee Race from Le Mans (2005)

  • Olympiad participant (Porto) with Mulan

  • Regularly featured in national Teletext results

  • Sectional and ZCC titles with home-bred and imported birds

He is also a proud advocate of progress, fun, and inclusivity in the sport. Ruud is known as a driving force within his local club, not only for his results — but for his spirit, ideas, and tireless energy.
