When the top of the pigeon world moves, you pay attention. On September 20, 2025, a high-profile FCI delegation touched down in Mira, Portugal, to inspect the newly constructed loft that’s set to become one of the most advanced racing pigeon facilities in the world. And let’s be clear — this isn’t just another loft. This is where the next generation of international racing will take flight.

Among the visiting officials were:

  • Mr. David Barros Madeira, President of FCI

  • Mr. Krzysztof Kawaler, Chairman of the FCI Sport Commission

  • Ms. Elisabeth Peus, Chairman of the FCI Veterinary and Science Commission

  • Mr. Ante Filipovic, FCI Director Committee Member

  • Mr. Ahmad El Ani, FCI Director Committee Member

  • Mr. Pedro Blanco Ferrando, FCI Director Committee Member

  • Mr. José Luiz Jacinto, President of the Portuguese Federation (FPC)

Each of them walked away impressed — and rightly so. The new Mira loft stands as a symbol of innovation, functionality, and forward thinking. Designed for performance, health, and transparency, it represents what the modern sport of pigeon racing should look like in 2025 and beyond.

Located on the Portuguese coast, Mira has long been home to the International Racing Pigeon Championships, organized by the Federação Portuguesa de Columbofilia (FPC) in partnership with the Fédération Colombophile Internationale (FCI). Every year, this venue gathers elite fanciers from across the globe to compete in a world-class setting known for its fairness, atmosphere, and competitive spirit. With the construction of this new loft, Mira now raises the bar even higher — ready to host training races, international finals, and major celebrations of the sport’s global community.

The FCI leadership praised not just the architecture, but also the vision: a global stage for fair and thrilling international competitions where champions are made and legends are born.

The message is clear — Mira is ready. The world is watching. And the Pigeon Boss approves.
