The combination Poelstra & Boelens from Assen has done it again. During the Châlons Champagne race of Fondclub Noord Nederland, Region 1, flown on September 6 2025, their young bird NL25-54741603 showed true class by winning 1st Region 1 and becoming the fastest pigeon of Regions 1 and 2 against 1,260 young birds.
Over a distance of 469 kilometers, this young hen clocked an impressive 1374 m/min. That kind of performance doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of structure, daily discipline, and pure passion from two fanciers who truly master the art of building form.
A Season that Ended on a High Note
Anyone following Poelstra & Boelens Pigeons this season saw this result coming. Their young bird team had been flying with authority for weeks.
- Arlon – 1st Region 1 and fastest in Regions 1 and 2 against 1,624 pigeons
- Marche – 3rd Region 1 and 6th Regions 1 and 2
- Châlons Champagne – 1st Region 1 and again fastest in Regions 1 and 2 against 1,260 pigeons
Three weeks of consistency at the very top. That’s not luck, that’s management and mastery.

Smart Management, Strong Results
Nineteen youngsters were basketed and eight made the result list. A 42% score rate on a demanding middle-distance race says everything about the loft’s balance. Roel and Tim focus on quality, not numbers. They race with precision, respect for recovery, and trust in the pigeons that earn their place.
Modern Thinking, Classic Passion
Roel Poelstra and Tim Boelens represent the new generation of Dutch pigeon sport — blending old-school craftsmanship with a modern approach. Their loft is proof that structure, dedication, and care still create champions.
Pigeon Boss Tip
Quality over quantity. Learn each pigeon individually, train them to peak when it matters, and never chase results without rhythm. Poelstra & Boelens Pigeons prove that this method brings lasting success.
This victory is more than just another 1st prize. It’s a statement — that real pigeon sport is alive, evolving, and very much thriving in the north.
Congratulations to Roel and Tim from Assen — true ambassadors of form, focus, and love for the pigeon.
