Spring is in full swing, the skies are blue, and the temperature is perfect… In other words: the ideal moment to shift gears in our Barcelona 2025 campaign! This weekend, I – the Pigeon Boss – will basket my old birds (2 years and older) for a 400 km training flight from Pontoise to Delft.
Why now? Why this flight?
👉 Because the weather conditions are absolutely perfect – and perfect weather calls for perfect preparation!
According to the forecast, it’s going to be a beautiful day for outdoor activity: sunny, dry, and pleasantly warm. After a fresh start to the morning, temperatures will rise to 20–23°C, with a light to moderate wind from the east, later shifting slightly northeast. In short: ideal conditions for a training flight of this nature.
And on Sunday? Even better! The sun will shine stronger, temperatures could reach 25°C, and with a UV index of 5, it’ll feel like summer. For racing pigeons preparing for the most challenging flight of the season, this is the golden window.
This is why my old warriors are going to Pontoise.
- Not because Pontoise is the goal.
- But because Barcelona is.
Barcelona is the pinnacle. The crown jewel. The test that separates the good from the legendary. And legends aren’t made overnight – they’re built step by step, kilometer by kilometer. That’s why I’m not waiting for July. I’m building now.
These veterans know the game. They've battled the winds, endured the heat, and flown through storms. But even they need to unlock their racing rhythm. This flight is designed to sharpen their edge – mentally and physically. Because when the first weekend of July arrives, we’ll be ready.
- So yes, the Pigeon Boss is taking action.
- Yes, the old birds are heading to Pontoise.
- And yes – the road to Barcelona starts today.
