Racing Pigeon Theft

On the night of Tuesday, October 22 to Wednesday, October 23, a disturbing and cowardly act took place in Beernem, West Flanders. Thirty of pigeon fancier Hubert Depoorter’s prized hens were stolen from their aviary. When Hubert visited his aviary on Wednesday morning, he immediately sensed that something was wrong. The usual lively cooing was missing, and it was eerily quiet. Upon further inspection, his fears were confirmed—exactly 30 hens were missing.

A sad day again for the sport
Although the police quickly arrived on the scene, they found no sign of forced entry, raising questions about how the thieves managed this heist and whether it was a targeted, well-planned operation. The stolen hens represent a significant loss for Hubert, both emotionally and in terms of years of breeding and selection. These birds were carefully chosen and represent not only value but a lifetime of dedication, a bond that only true pigeon fanciers can fully understand.

Below is a list of the ring numbers of the stolen hens, in the hope that this information will be widely shared and may eventually lead to their recovery:

Hubert hopes for a swift recovery of his hens and calls on everyone in the pigeon community to stay alert and keep an eye out for these ring numbers.
