What a fantastic kickoff to the new racing season! Under perfect weather conditions, thousands of pigeon fanciers got back into action. The excitement was palpable, expectations were high, and our feathered athletes were ready to show what they’re made of.

And it was Team van de Pasch from Grubbenvorst who immediately stole the show! With an astonishing loft performance of 853 points and 45 out of 46 pigeons in the prizes, they claimed both the Loft of the Week and the coveted Grandmaster title. Their results were straight out of a fairy tale: positions 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 11 through 23 – a result most of us can only dream of. Performances like this are no coincidence; they’re the reward for passion, preparation, and pure expertise. Hats off!

The Best Of The Rest

The rest of the top five also delivered top-class performances. Bram ten Klei from Zuidoostbeemster secured second place with 743 points, and 21 prize winners out of 23 pigeons entered – a rock-solid performance! Comb. Maas-Luijkx from Dongen followed with 735 points (24 sent, 22 prizes), proving they’re also in superb form.

The young and talented Elianne Wiersema from Appingedam made waves with a perfect 15 out of 15 and 696 points, taking fourth place – a true demonstration of quality and consistency. Rounding off the top five was the always consistent Jan Hengst from Zoutelande, with 687 points, 9 pigeons entered and 8 in the prizes. Truly performances to be proud of!

Regional Stars In The Spotlight

As always, regional stars deserve their moment in the spotlight too. This week, special mentions go to Mark Bisschop from Kloosterzande, J.C. Kerkhofs and Sons from Reusel, and Team B&J Willems from Darp. Not only did they clock the fastest pigeons in their respective areas, but they also topped the loft performance rankings in their region. That’s exactly what we love to see – fanciers who excel on every front!

Some Statictics

To complete the picture: a total of 175,394 pigeons were entered by 7,195 members, averaging 24 pigeons per fancier. Impressive numbers that show just how alive and vibrant our beloved sport truly is.

To all race winners, Grandmasters, and outstanding performers: congratulations! Your dedication, love for the sport, and amazing results are an inspiration to everyone in the pigeon racing community. Let’s keep this positive momentum going and make this season one to remember!

Until next week!
