When the sun rises, the competition in “De Oostgrens”, one of the biggest pigeon clubs (speed) in Belgium, starts in Meerhout. Geert Krauss does not show up to just fill the entry list; each time he tries to be in the top performing pigeons for which he has been building a breeding loft over the past few years (more see later). On Saturday, April 11, 2026, he made history in “De Oostgrens” federation.
The Double Knockout from Momignies
The race from Momignies on April 11 was the stage for an explosion of power. Against a massive field of 2,280 old birds, Geert claimed the first prize with a speed of 1581.73 meters per minute with the winning bird, ring number BE 6116402-25.
This superstar was not only the fastest among the old birds but also claimed the first prize against 1,518 yearlings. Winning gold twice on the same day with the same bird is the ultimate proof of well thought out breeding at the Meiberg loft. Geert basketed only thirteen old birds and saw eight of them finish in the prizes, including 1st, 43rd, 60th, 80th, and 200th place. With the yearlings, his efficiency was even higher, with eight prizes from ten birds entered.
A Foundation of Championships
This success did not happen by accident. Geert has been building a track record for years. In 2025, he was already crowned 3rd General Champion in Verbroedering Meerhout and 2nd Champion Yearlings. 2025 being the first year also starting more focus as before (because work related time constraints) on yearlings and not just youngsters.

The Recipe for Speed
Geert Krauss pigeons are a careful blend of the best blood available. The foundation consists of Willem de Bruijn lines, such as descendants of the 29th National Ace Pigeon and the best blood lines from Willem as well as Leideman pigeons from the Netherlands. This is complemented by the Belgium speed of Dirk Van den Bulck, Pierre Beyl and the incomparable Pitbull line of Rudy Van Reeth, added with some Geert Lambrechts input. The result is a breeding loft with a strain of pigeons that can fly fast with the intelligence to find the shortest way back to Meerhout. A result of many years of searching and selection to build a breeding loft with also many references at other lofts :

With this double victory on April 11 and other references , Geert demonstrates that his breeding loft and shift to include racing yearlings is a bullseye. A well deserved result of many years of effort.
By the way : BE 6116402-25 flew in the weekend after on April 19th the 2de/659 pigeons. Not too bad.
