A police officer lost his life after discovering two individuals stealing racing pigeons. Yes, you read that correctly. Our heritage, our sport, our animals were the target once again, and this time the confrontation turned deadly. Shock is an understatement.

An off-duty officer heard suspicious noise near a pigeon loft, went to check, confronted two young men and was brutally attacked. He was hospitalized with critical injuries and fought for his life for days. He didn’t survive. All because of a few stolen pigeons.

There is no way to soften this. It is horrific. It is inhumane. And it shakes the entire racing pigeon world because this could have happened anywhere. Pigeon theft is not a minor nuisance; it is a growing international plague. And now a man has died for standing up for honesty and property.
