Step into the trophy room at the Dhoye in Deinze and your eyes go straight to one frame on the wooden wall.Â
Right behind a smiling Annick Goeteyn hangs the tribute to Power Louise, ring number BE25 4059057, the hen that was crowned 1st National Ace Pigeon KBDB Shorter Middle Distance Young Birds in 2025 with a tiny coefficient of 1.2513 percent. In the heart of East Flanders, where the competition is ruthless and every Saturday feels like a world championship, Annick Goeteyn and her G Pigeons loft have claimed their spot among the true heavyweights of the Belgian sport.
For most fanciers, breeding and racing a 1st National Ace Pigeon KBDB is the finish line of a lifelong dream. For Annick that magical 2025 season was just the beginning. Instead of resting on their laurels, they came out swinging in 2026 and put together a racing campaign that left no doubt about who rules the sky around Deinze.
Following Up a National Title With 35 First Prizes in 2026
You see it happen all the time in pigeon racing. A loft hits the jackpot with a national ace bird, and the very next season brings a quiet dip in form. At G Pigeons, the exact opposite happened. From the first early spring sprints to the tough late summer nationals, Annick kept her team sharp every single week, wrapping up the 2026 season with an incredible 35 first prizes on the board.
When you look past the raw win count, the actual race sheets across the provincial, interprovincial, and zonal results show just how strong this colony really is. From Bourges, the Deinze racers took 1st National Zone against 1,205 pigeons and 3rd Provincial against 2,295 birds. On Chateaudun, they beat the combined forces of East and West Flanders by taking 1st Provincial and 1st Interprovincial against 1,461 pigeons.Â
Then came the Ablis races, which turned into a private show for the loft. Annick won 1st Provincial against 1,555 pigeons, followed that by dominating the top of the sheet with 1st, 4th, and 5th Provincial against 2,653 pigeons, and then did it all over again with 1st, 3rd, and 4th Provincial against 2,349 pigeons.Â
Toss in 2nd National Zone La Chatre against 617 birds, 2nd National Zone Chateauroux against 871 birds, 6th National Chateauroux against 5,504 pigeons, plus 3rd and 6th National Zone Argenton against 3,306 pigeons, and you are looking at a loft that simply refuses to miss a beat.

Clocking front runners week after week naturally brings home big titles at the end of the year. For 2026, the loft added 3rd Provincial Ace Pigeon KBDB and 5th Provincial Champion Longer Middle Distance Old Birds to the trophy cabinet. And her birds do not just shine over the green fields of Flanders.Â
Thousands of kilometers away under the baking Greek sun, the G Pigeons bloodline showed serious grit by winning 1st Extra OLR Final in the As Golden Pigeon Race over a brutal 550 kilometers. That victory fits right alongside the earlier international titles hanging on her wall, right next to Athena, BE22 4206906, winner of 1st Ace Pigeon Super Championship in the As Golden Pigeon Race in Greece.
The Power Louise Phenomenon and Golden Vandenabeele Blood
If you want to know why these pigeons can win a fast provincial race from Orleans on Saturday and dominate a scorching One Loft Race final abroad the next week, you only need to look at how Annick builds her breeding loft in Deinze. Everything started with the golden blood of Gaby Vandenabeele, built around the famous pair Captain Blue and Nancy, along with legendary lines like Orlando, Vertigo, and Rudinio. Over the years, she kept raising the bar by bringing in proven winners from Chris Debacker, Hok Verstraete, Tom and Marnik Van Gaver, and Joël Verschoot.
Power Louise, BE25 4059057, is the prime example of what happens when those families click. During her 2025 run to the national title, she flew like she had a compass built into her head, landing 4th Interprovincial Orleans against 6,720 pigeons, 12th Interprovincial Chateaudun against 2,084 pigeons, 16th Interprovincial Orleans against 9,204 pigeons, 20th Provincial Orleans against 4,523 pigeons, and 41st Interprovincial Orleans against 5,908 pigeons.
In Deinze, top results on paper get a bird noticed, but only physical perfection gets a bird into the 40 pair breeding loft. Annick wants a strong body in the hand, a supple wing with plenty of room, and thick, silky feathers. That tough selection is the exact reason why so many fellow fanciers succeed with her birds. Even the master Gaby Vandenabeele himself bred his famous 1st National Ace Pigeon KBDB Super Romeo out of a hen that came straight from Annick’s loft.

Sharp Eyes, Daily Rhythm, and Pure Dedication
What started out as a shared family hobby has grown into a way of life where every tiny detail matters. Annick looks after a racing squad of about 25 cocks and 47 hens on classic widowhood, backed up by a group of around 140 young birds that get tested thoroughly from the start of the calendar to the final race.
Ask about her secret and you quickly learn it does not come out of a medicine bottle. It comes down to a strict daily clock, clean lofts, and a pair of eyes that notice everything. Annick spends hours among her birds, watching how fast a racer bounces back after a tough flight, how it defends its box, and how the air feels inside the sections. If a bird is not feeling 100 percent, she literally loses sleep over it. She teams up with vet Piet Blancke every two weeks for routine checks so she knows her team goes into the basket in peak health. And if something ever needs tweaking, she changes only one single thing at a time so the birds never lose their calm or their rhythm.
Pigeon racing rewards the fanciers who combine a good eye in the breeding loft with hard work every morning and evening. Annick Goeteyn has both in spades. Whether she is watching her birds drop like stones from the clouds over Deinze or celebrating another big One Loft Race win across Europe, the woman behind G Pigeons keeps showing the pigeon world what real passion looks like.
