Team Eijerkamp Conquers 2026: Two Belgian National Victories and a Season to Remember

What a season for Team Eijerkamp! When Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp decided to expand their racing ambitions into Belgium, they were entering one of the most competitive environments in international pigeon racing.

Twelve months later, the results speak for themselves. Two Belgian national victories, an impressive collection of zonal triumphs and another remarkable season at their home base in Brummen have made 2026 a year that the Eijerkamp family will remember for a very long time.

But behind these achievements lies something even more interesting than a collection of impressive race results. The Eijerkamp story is one of family tradition, carefully selected bloodlines, ambitious investments and a team of dedicated pigeon fanciers who share the same determination to succeed. And after everything they have accomplished this year, there is every reason to believe that this is only the beginning of another exciting chapter.

A Belgian Dream Becomes Reality in Pulderbos

The decision to acquire the former racing facilities and pigeon colony of Belgian champion André Roodhooft in Pulderbos was a major step for Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp. It offered the opportunity to establish themselves at a location with an exceptional racing history, while building upon years of experience and success in the Netherlands.

Responsibility for the Belgian racing operation was entrusted to Oliver Sabol, an experienced member of the Eijerkamp organisation who had already demonstrated his qualities in Brummen. Moving to Belgium brought new challenges, different competition and the pressure of delivering results in a country where national victories are never handed out easily.

Oliver and his team wasted very little time making their intentions clear.

On 7 June 2026, the hen Belgian Dream (BE24-6178333) delivered the first major sensation. Racing from Argenton, approximately 563 kilometres from Pulderbos, she won 1st National against 15,386 old birds and recorded the fastest velocity of the entire liberation of 37,697 pigeons.

For Team Eijerkamp, it was a landmark achievement in their very first Belgian racing season. Belgian Dream, previously known as Miss Toury, had already established an excellent racing record under André Roodhooft and had continued winning from the Pulderbos loft in 2026. Her national victory was a magnificent demonstration of proven quality combined with successful loft management.

Yet the season still had another extraordinary moment in store.

In August, Geeloger Glory (NL26-8474967) claimed 1st National Argenton against 15,769 young birds. She was also the fastest pigeon of the complete liberation of 19,945 competitors. Flying the same approximate distance of 563 kilometres, this talented youngster secured a second Belgian national triumph for the team.

Two outright national victories in the first Belgian season. That is quite an introduction!

Brummen Continues to Deliver at the Highest Level

While the racing operation in Belgium was attracting international attention, the established Eijerkamp team in Brummen was producing another outstanding season of its own.

One of the highlights came from Châteauroux, where the exceptional hen Aisha (NL23-9100214) won 1st National Sector 4 against 7,438 pigeons over approximately 670 kilometres. She also finished 7th National against 36,332 pigeons. The team collected 50 prizes from 60 pigeons entered in the race, an indication of the depth of quality within the racing team.

Another memorable performance followed from the young bird race at Pont Saint Maxence, where Silver Steady Euro claimed 1st National Sector 4 against 6,016 pigeons over approximately 402 kilometres.

The longer distance races also demonstrated the strength of the colony. From Issoudun, over 647 kilometres, Team Eijerkamp captured 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 8th National Sector 4 against 4,263 pigeons, with daughters of Hurricane Hans playing an important role in this remarkable result.

On shorter distances, the consistency was equally impressive. From Dizy le Gros, the team collected the first four positions against 8,034 pigeons, while impressive series of early arrivals from Hirson, Tienen and Bierges confirmed that Eijerkamp pigeons can compete at the highest level across different distances and racing conditions.

Winning an important race is always special. Delivering exceptional performances throughout an entire season, with several different pigeons, is what separates a good racing colony from a truly outstanding one.

Great Pigeons, Great People and a Clear Vision

Behind every successful pigeon racing organisation are people who understand that champions are developed through careful breeding, dedicated management and countless hours of daily attention.

For Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp, that philosophy has shaped a family tradition stretching across generations. Their name has become internationally recognised, but the ambition to improve has never disappeared.

The expansion into Pulderbos illustrates this perfectly. Rather than simply relying on their reputation in the Netherlands, the family created a new racing operation and placed experienced people in positions where their knowledge could deliver results.

Oliver Sabol has played a central role in Belgium, while Michal Jagielski has taken responsibility for the racing lofts in Brummen. Their close cooperation, supported by Hans, Evert-Jan and the wider team, creates an environment where knowledge and experience can be shared across borders.

The importance of carefully selected breeding lines is equally visible in the results. Geeloger Glory, for example, is a granddaughter of the famous Geeloger, acquired from Belgian champion Erik Limbourg. Her mother, Bonte Geeloger, represents a breeding decision that has already produced outstanding results.

Only one week after Geeloger Glory’s national triumph, her full brother and nestmate, Geelogers Gladiator, won 1st from Noyon against 1,199 pigeons. Two remarkable performances from the same nest underline why successful breeders pay such close attention to the relationship between pedigree, individual quality and actual racing performance.

And that is perhaps one of the most interesting lessons from the Eijerkamp success story. Expensive pigeons and famous names alone do not win races. The real value becomes visible when breeding potential is translated into consistent performances in the basket.
