Over a Century of Heritage: The Story Behind Hendriks Pigeons
The rich tradition behind Hendriks Pigeons spans over four generations in the village of Nijswiller. Great grandfather Winand Hendriks co founded the local pigeon club back in 1921, grandfather Dries carried the torch, and father Jo grew up surrounded by elite racing birds.
When son Florian joined his father Jo in 2000, they officially formed their powerful partnership and focused their efforts on the one day long distance races between 500 and 650 kilometers starting in 2008. Since then, Hendriks Pigeons have built a historic record of national victories and championships. They won 1st National Eendaagse Fondspiegel Category 2 three times and crowned their famous racer National Harry as FCI World Best Pigeon in 2019. Their legendary 2019 Argenton national race saw them capture 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th National Sector 1 against 9,512 pigeons.
The Undisputed Breeding Gem: Kleine Gerard 506
Behind every elite loft stands a legendary breeder. For Hendriks Pigeons, that pillar of success is Kleine Gerard 506. Before moving to the breeding section, this outstanding cock won 1st Provincial Vierzon against 1,359 pigeons.
As a breeder, Kleine Gerard 506 has proven to be a golden producer. He sired Isabel 663, who claimed 1st NPO Issoudun against 1,205 pigeons and 1st Provincial Brienne against 4.857 pigeons in 2025. His offspring inherit the rare ability to pull away from the flock during tough weather conditions, making Kleine Gerard 506 the cornerstone of Hendriks Pigeons.
