Last weekend, the middle-distance classic from Sens was on the agenda for the racing birds of Section 3 Oost-Brabant. Under challenging conditions, the pigeons of Team van Oss from ‘s-Hertogenbosch once again proved they possess exceptional qualities and outstanding physical fitness. Pigeon racing at this level is top-tier athletics, where the fine synergy between the fancier and the bird makes all the difference.
The Flight From Sens: True Working Weather
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the pigeons were released in French Sens at 07:15 AM. The weather conditions along the flight line demanded the absolute utmost from the athletes: a cloudless sky, temperatures rising to 30 degrees, and a calm but constant north-easterly wind blowing straight on the snavel. This is precisely the kind of weather where class and character prevail, and where only the best-prepared pigeons rise to the top.
With 50 pigeons in the race, Team van Oss put on an impressive and highly consistent display. While arrivals across the rest of the section were slow to register, the birds in ‘s-Hertogenbosch dropped onto the landing board in a steady rhythm. With an incredible 41 prizes won out of 50 basketed birds, the team achieved a spectacular prize percentage of 82%.
In this middle-distance race against 3,638 provincial pigeons, the team clocked the following impressive series of rankings: 6, 41, 45, 46, 78, 82, 83, 90, 92, 101, 106, 107, 114, 121, 146, 166, 173, 208, 240, 242, 246, 247, 273, 290, 323, 340, 388, 398, 445, 502, 539, 553, 554, 598, 601, 710, 758, 798, 866, 1188, and 1201.

The Super Star of the Loft: NL.24-8518477 (New Kyann)
The absolute standout performer of the day was the NL.24-8518477. This beautiful chequered cock, now named New Kyann, is a phenomenal athlete. He combines a remarkably athletic, powerful build with an incredibly bright, intelligent eye. This top racer secured 6th Provincial against 3,638 pigeons, flying at a speed of 1149.144 meters per minute. With this performance, he has now captured a top 10 position in the highly competitive South-East sector for the 4th time, a rare feat that underlines his exceptional class.
New Kyann is already a well-established name at the national level. During the 2025 season, he was crowned:

His Dam (Elite Mother) is a direct daughter of Kyann (NL18-5140871), one of the absolute foundation pillars of Team van Oss, winning titles such as 5th National Ace Pigeon One-Day Long Distance and 7th National Ace Pigeon Middle Distance NPO 2019. Kyann, in turn, is a grandson of the world-famous Harry of Jan Hooymans. Kyann was paired with Olympic Diny of Mevr. Snellen & Zn, who was crowned 3rd Dutch Olympiad Pigeon Allround and won 1st NPO Montluçon against 7,299 pigeons.
