The Sky Reveals the Truth: Elite Young Birds Powering Ahead at the Tar Heel OLR!

What a sensational buzz in Enfield, North Carolina! The adrenaline is pumping through the aisles at the Tar Heel OLR facility because the next generation of elite avian athletes is gearing up for a legendary season. John Ward and his dedicated team are working around the clock, leaving absolutely nothing to chance. If you want to measure your bloodlines against the absolute world top, this is the ultimate stage you have been searching for.

Pigeon racing is the ultimate test of passion, perseverance, and superior genetics, and events like this put our beautiful sport in the global spotlight! Activity at the loft is ramping up rapidly, and we are incredibly pleased with the magnificent progress our young bird teams are making. Our goal remains the same as always: to provide every single bird with the absolute gold standard of care, from our rigorous health protocols to consistent, rock-solid flight training.

For everyone following the preparations closely, here is the official, updated Loft Progress Report straight from the master himself!

The Loft Progress Report: Tracking the Future Champions

This is no ordinary loft; this is an advanced biological laboratory where flawless health and peak performance go hand in hand. The training schedule is built step-by-step to give the pigeons unbeatable homing instincts and racing resilience:

  • Groups 1 to 4: These athletes are flying and routing strongly outside every single day! We have pulled their 9th and 10th flights this past week, and they will be kept inside for the next couple of weeks to allow for proper, healthy regrowth.

  • Groups 5 and 6: Trap training is officially complete, and these birds are kitting up beautifully in the skies. In the next 1–2 weeks, we will be pulling their 9th and 10th flights as well to keep them perfectly on pace.

  • Groups 7 and 8: These birds have successfully cleared their mandatory quarantine period and are now fully focused on mastering their trap training with the global standard Benzing electronic clocking system.

  • Groups 9 and 10: Welcome to the arena! These newest arrivals are currently in quarantine to safeguard the biosecurity of the entire flock. As a quick reminder for everyone: for any birds arriving after June 15th, we generally do not pull flights unless the birds are significantly mature. We want to ensure these late arrivals have every single advantage to keep pace with the rest of the loft!

Health & Wellness: Medical Care at Champions League Level

Excellence in health is the absolute backbone of our entire operation. Thanks to our exclusive partnership with the NC State University Avian Veterinary Center and premium support from Vet-Schroeder Tollisan of the Netherlands, the medical guidance here stands on a lonely high level.

We leave absolutely nothing to chance:

  • Groups 1 to 6 have now completely finished their full vaccination series.

  • Every single one of these birds has received its full Salmonella protocol, including the necessary boosters.

  • The required RP (Paramyxo/Rotavirus) doses are fully completed.

It takes an enormous amount of time and energy, but it is the only way to properly protect your valuable genetic stock. The next step? As soon as our final groups clear their quarantine, the entire loft will receive the Pox vaccine all at once. This ensures that every single pigeon enters the starting line with the exact same ironclad health status!

Why the Tar Heel OLR Earns My 100% Seal of Approval

Pigeon Boss ApprovedI do not hand out my personal recommendations lightly, but John and Linda Ward earn that thumbs-up double and triple over. This race stands entirely alone on the North American racing circuit, and I trust it blindly. Here is why:

  • The Ultimate Navigation Challenge: The racing route runs from south to north, right along the prominent I-95 corridor. This forces the birds to fight hard against the unpredictable coastal elements and sharp Atlantic crosswinds, which is exactly where the true champions separate themselves from the pack.

  • Maximum Transparency: Honesty is our currency. Fanciers can follow their own pigeons closely every single step of the way via live video streams of all arrivals and precise GPS pin drops at liberation.

  • A $300,000 Glory Road: With an insane total prize pool goal of $300,000 (based on 1,000 paid activations), you are playing for serious money and eternal glory. The competition consists of a true five-race series and culminates in a spectacular 350-mile Grand Finale on November 30, 2026, where a whopping 100 individual prizes will be awarded.

Important: The Very Last Chance to Ship Your Birds!

The intake weeks have been an absolute record-breaking success, but the clock is ticking unmercifully. Have you been sitting on the fence, waiting to send over your best breeding stock? Then this is the exact moment to take action. We are still accepting entries for those looking to compete and conquer!

The Definitive Deadline: If you are planning to join the evolution this year, ensure your birds are shipped via USPS Priority Mail Express no later than Monday, June 30th, to guarantee they arrive safely at the loft in Enfield by Friday, July 3rd at the latest.

📦 Pigeon Boss Pro-Tips for Shipping Success:

  • Ship Early: Please ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only. We recently had a box shipped on a Wednesday that didn’t arrive until Saturday—that causes completely unnecessary stress for these young athletes. Let’s keep them fresh!

  • Hydration First: Please include a quartered orange in the shipping box. This provides an excellent, natural source of hydration during transit without making a mess.

  • Don’t Overcrowd: Ensure your birds have plenty of space in their shipping containers so they can travel comfortably and stress-free.
