What a magnificent sport we have. There is truly nothing more beautiful than those early morning hours, the healthy tension racing through your body, and the goosebumps on your arms when the first winged athletes drop from the sky like falcons. In the picturesque South Limburg town of Vijlen, Piet Lindelauf proves week after week that elite sport and passion go hand in hand. True experts know that reaching the absolute top is one thing, but staying there requires pure discipline. Last weekend, the one day long distance flight from Chateauroux Parc was on the agenda, and the grandmaster from Vijlen gave a masterclass that showed the competition just how incredibly strong his team is across the board[cite: 1, 2]. This is the honest, pure story of a colony in peak condition, where passion and science wrap into feathers.

The Battle of Chateauroux: A War of Attrition for True Cracks

Saturday, July 4, 2026, was a day when the speed demons and powerhouses had to stand up[cite: 1, 2]. At exactly 07.15 AM, the starting signal sounded in Chateauroux Parc for a journey of no less than 541.361 kilometers back to the Limburg home base. The weather conditions tested the flying capabilities and character of these athletes to the absolute limit. With a virtually cloudless sky at start, 17 degrees and a fairly moderate wind blowing from the southwest, the pace was high but fair. This was a final exam for the true powerhouses where birds had to work hard for every single kilometer against the elements. No tailwind to mask any weakness, just honest class.

In Section 4, there were 2465 pigeons in competition, entered by 198 fanatical participants. Piet Lindelauf did what he is known for and basketed an iron clad team of athletes[cite: 1, 2]. What happened next on the notification systems was pure enjoyment for any enthusiast.

The first pigeon stormed across the finish line at 13.47.17 PM with a dizzying speed of 1380.026 meters per minute, securing a magistral 11th provincial prize against the massive peloton. But the train did not stop there. Barely four minutes later, at 13.51.06 PM, Piet clocked his second pigeon in 24th provincial place with a speed of 1366.728 meters per minute.

Let us grab the calculator, because the numbers simply never lie. Piet Lindelauf took no less than 22 provincial prizes out of his basketed squad, flying the competition to deep despair[cite: 1, 2]. While the competition sometimes had to wait hours for late arrivals, Piet showed that his entire racing team hurried home like a well oiled machine. This is not luck, this is pure class across the board.

The Chateauroux Results

The phenomenal Piet Lindelauf Pigeons decimated the competition with a historic provincial series, capturing all these prizes in one jaw dropping block: 11, 24, 52, 61, 66, 77, 78, 98, 159, 181, 195, 196, 226, 273, 347, 372, 374, 409, 559, 602, 606, 771.

A Season Full of Sensational Highlights

To truly appreciate this performance, we need to take a brief look at the unbelievable streak that Piet Lindelauf Pigeons put on the map earlier this year. The entire 2026 season reads like a spectacular book of dominance:

  • On April 18 from Rethel, the fireworks started with an absolute 1st prize against 750 pigeons in the Southeast Corner, where the winner thundered home at 1441 meters per minute. Within five minutes, five birds were already clocked at the absolute peak.

  • Just a week later, on April 25, the total decimation of Rethel followed when NL25 1472774 claimed the 1st prize against 3681 pigeons, and Piet casually flew no less than 34 positions into the results.

  • On May 9, the Sourdun Wrecking Ball hit like a bomb, hijacking the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes against 3471 competitors, led by the phenomenal hen Young Ace. Provincially against a massive 14304 pigeons, this translated into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.

  • On May 23, the team flexed their muscles in the burning heat from Reims and Issoudun, claiming the 1st prize in club De Union on both fronts with incredible power.

  • On May 31, during the tough flight from Sourdun, Piet was crowned the undisputed grandmaster with 694 points, clocking the 12th, 25th, and 36th provincial places against 6896 birds.

The Golden DNA: The Legacy of Gerard and Liam

Behind this constant stream of success lies an iron clad strain of pigeons and decades of knowledge. With pioneering passion and a healthy dose of bravado, Piet masterfully builds on the unshakeable foundation laid by his legendary father, Gerard Lindelauf, who sadly passed away in November 2024 at the age of 93. Together, they created a flying dynasty that simply refuses to lose.

The absolute cornerstone of this colony is the miracle breeder Liam, NL13 1544966. Whether the sun is blazing or the wind is head on, the descendants of this golden male always find their way to the top of the podium. Liam is the father of countless winners, passing on his flawless internal compass and a pure winners character to generation after generation.

This rock solid genetic base already crowned Piet as the 1st Best Fancier of the Netherlands Unnominated in 2025, alongside securing six national top ten rankings. The competition was warned, and in 2026, that promise is being delivered week after week.

Why We Deeply Love the Pigeon Sport

This is exactly why pigeon racing conquers so many hearts worldwide. There is truly nothing more magical than the early morning hours, the raw tension crawling through your body, and the goosebumps you get when a true winged athlete folds its wings and dives straight toward the loft. It is the ultimate synergy between human and animal.

Fanciers like Piet Lindelauf elevate our beautiful hobby to a level that inspires us all to get the very best out of our own colony. The bar in Limburg has been raised to an absolute lonely height, and the maestro from Vijlen is already busy putting the finishing touches on his squad for the next confrontation in the skies.
