What a fabulous experience our pigeon sport is! There is truly nothing more beautiful than those early morning hours, the healthy tension racing through your body, and the goosebumps on your arms when the first winged athletes drop from the sky like comets. In the South Limburg hills of Vijlen, Piet Lindelauf demonstrates week after week how elite sport, passion, and pure class come together. True masters know that reaching the top is one thing, but remaining there for decades requires an ironclad strain, pure discipline, and a healthy dose of bravado.

Last weekend it was another bullseye on the race from Reims in France. The colony from Vijlen delivered a masterclass that left the competition simply speechless!

Sizzling Heat and Headwinds: The Grueling Trial from Reims

Saturday, July 25, 2026, went down in the books as a day for true speed demons with a character of steel. At exactly 08.30 AM, the starting signal sounded in Reims for a journey of over 220 kilometers back to the Limburg home base. The conditions were grueling and highly selective. A clear, cloudless sky combined with a scorching temperature of no less than 30 degrees Celsius and a light northeast headwind.

A headwind means fighting for every single meter on pure muscle power, flying capabilities, and orientation skills. No tailwind to mask any weaknesses, just a hard exam where only the absolute best rise to the top. Piet Lindelauf Pigeons basketed a sharply selected team of 55 young athletes for this battle. What happened next on the clocking systems was pure enjoyment for every true enthusiast.

The Club Results in De Union

In club De Union, 311 pigeons from 7 participants competed against each other. The flying machines from Vijlen completely took over the results by occupying the entire top.

  • The first seven pigeons stormed across the landing board almost simultaneously and delivered a sensational series: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th prize in the club on a single line!

  • Within a minute, Piet clocked his first complete block and continued the streak with the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th prize.

  • Out of the 55 basketed pigeons, no less than 28 flew straight into the prizes in the club.

  • This means a fantastic prize percentage of 50.91 percent in club competition on a grueling race.

The Provincial Results in Section 4

When we look at the provincial battlefield in Section 4 against a massive field of 4,130 pigeons from 193 fanatical participants, the dominance of Piet Lindelauf Pigeons becomes truly undeniable.

  • Provincially, the comets from Vijlen captured a historic series at the absolute peak of the standings: 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 13th prize against 4,130 pigeons!

  • The winning pigeon, bearing ring number 6 2632236, thundered across the distance of 220.392 kilometers with a dizzying speed of 1454.574 meters per minute.

  • Further down the results, the colony claimed impressive positions such as 34th, 35th, 37th, 38th, 39th, 109th, and 122nd provincial.

  • Out of the 55 entered pigeons, no less than 43 claimed a provincial prize.

  • That translates into an astonishing provincial prize percentage of 78.18 percent!

While the competition had to wait long hours for latecomers, the team from Vijlen landed like a well oiled machine on the landing board. This is not luck, this is pure class across the entire loft.

The Unshakable Genes of Liam and the Legacy of Gerard

Behind this continuous stream of success lies a rock solid system of selection, craftsmanship, and passion. Piet masterfully builds on the unshakeable foundation laid by his legendary father Gerard Lindelauf. Together, they created a flying dynasty that raised Dutch pigeon racing to an exceptionally high level.

The absolute cornerstone of this colony has been the miracle breeder Liam (NL13 1544966) for years. Whether the sun is blazing or the wind is right in their faces, the descendants of this golden cock always find their way to the top podium. Liam is the father and grandfather of an endless list of first prize winners and national ace pigeons. When we also think of iconic names like Young Ace (1st Provincial Ace Pigeon), Goudegien, The Spike, and Wonderboy, everyone understands why this pigeon strain enjoys worldwide fame.

It is this solid genetic base that already crowned Piet as 1st Best Fancier of the Netherlands Unnominated in 2025, accompanied by five more national top ten rankings in that same season. In the 2026 season, that promise is being delivered week after week.

Why We Deeply Love Pigeon Racing

Performances like these make the heart of every pigeon enthusiast beat faster. It is the magic of the early morning, the synergy between human and animal, and the profound respect for these winged athletes who find their way home under extreme conditions. Piet Lindelauf shows how beautiful our sport is and inspires fanciers worldwide to get the absolute best out of their own loft.

Great class Piet, on to the next aerial spectacle! The pigeon sport is alive, buzzing, and proves in Vijlen that passion and elite sport form the perfect combination.
